It is VERY competitive to get a job at Deloitte don't feel bad something like 50,000 applications for 1,000 jobs.

I have some friends who do public sector work at Deloitte. From what I hear, the difficulty is, as a PP mentions, you are expected to do various business development work in addition to your client work, especially if you want to get promotions and progress up the ladder. This additional work is what pushes your work week above the 40-hr threshhold. And if you don't have much interest in promotions, then you may be better off trying for a public sector job.
