Ask your child if he/she would be interested, however. That's the biggest driver as to whether its worth it. Does your DC like extra work, doesn't mind homework, is super curious and somewhat analytical? My other child does not care for homework or extra research -- and I don't think this program would be a good fit for him!!

+1 on this, with a caveat.

DS, also a rising 4th grader, really likes the class and talks more about what he's doing than I've seen with just about anything. He plays sports during free time whereas he NEVER does that at our public school or even in rec leagues, where he thinks the other kids are too mean and aggressive.

But, even though he doesn't mind a little homework, he doesn't want to do it next year because he feels like there is too much homework.

He's doing a science class in a field that is generally his passion and has been for a long time. So, if you are considering this for your child, really think hard about the homework demand first and make sure your child realizes that this is school more than summer camp.

Are the camps in the DC area or closer to Baltimore?

I am an immigrant and I have been aware of the 'S' for at least ten years. But I know a person who worked at JH and called it John (eventually he learned).
