Yes he didAnonymous wrote:OK, Pope will not judge gays, but women priests are a definite no.
Does that mean that he judges women priests?
Not sure he addressed the priest thing with the gays.
Pretty sure they would be content if you would merely leave them alone.
I am not concerned with what two consenting adults do behind closed doors. I am in favor of gay marriage.
But you have to realize that Catholicism, like many faiths, is rooted in scripture. The Bible says it's a sin for a man to lie with another man. It's not going to get re-written. It just isn't.
Gay persons cannot expect a whole religion to change it's doctrine on this. Individuals can think for themselves, but the church body is not going to change in regards to this.

there are plenty of gay and gay-friendly Catholics who believe that there's nothing endemic to the Church that's anti-gay. So "gay persons" are not expecting "a whole religion to change its doctrine on this". Gay (and gay-friendly) Catholics are hoping the Church will recognize its error.

Are we really going to rehash all the things the Bible prohibits, then quickly dismiss the ones you want to do (eat shellfish, get a tattoo) while still insisting that God hates gays?
