I just had this conversation with someone. We did microwave popcorn for years and I could not stand the smell of it. Then I wondered about the health risks. But everytime I went to the grocery store I kept buying it. Finally one day I made it on the stove and thought that was the easiest thing I had ever done and now it is the only way we eat popcorn. I think we just get so in the habit of doing things the same way over and over again.

I have this one. It works great, but I only use it about once a month so maybe it doesn't hold up to constant use.

Thanks for all the responses! Sounds like the way to go is the way we did when I was a kid! (Pot on stove).

Just use the stove. Put 3 tablespoons of oil in a pan with 3-4 kernels, and cover. Heat on med-high. Once those kernels pop, remove from heat, wait 30 seconds, and then pour in 1/3-1/2 cup of popcorn, and cover & return to heat. When the pops slow down considerably, take it off the burner. Add salt and maybe a little sugar if you like kettle corn. It's THE BEST POPCORN. Seriously, way better than a microwave or popper. And I'm guessing you have a pot with a lid.

With a lid.

It's the only way to go. I'm addicted.

I haven't had it in years and Friday night I made a big batch covered with melted butter and dash of salt- - sooooo good!

+1.

I was just going to say this but you beat me to it. Who are all these fancy people with their fancy popcorn makers?!!
I just throw it in a brown bad and hit the "popcorn" button. Perfect every time. (Well, almost perfect- there are always some unpopped kernels at the end, but big deal.)

Don't get the Macy's store brand with red and white stripes. It gets hot and the popcorn goes everywhere!

Agree to skip the popcorn maker!

We use a stainless steel pan and oil. Works great! And tastes way better than microwave popcorn.

I have a Presto microwave popper from walmart. it's a lidded bowl on a stand and pops very well. Can use with or without oil. Cheap and fits in mt small microwave. Love it!

What do you mean "clean?" Just wipe it out with a paper towel.
