Stuff is amazing, low fat and you mix it with a little water and tastes the same as Peanut Butter.

That is Frankenfood.

I just hired a couple of "Hill-Billy" types to clear 1/4 acre of our place in WVA and planted my own. They were almost pathetically glad of the work, and hopefully they will put some of the money they earned towards better dental care. Late summer the whole family goes down to harvest and press the peanuts.

Make sure the soils is sufficiently acidic.

Is it more work that going to the store?
Yes, certainly.
Is it worth it for the high quality result?
Yes, in my opinion.
Do I look down on people who take the lazy option and go to the store?
No, everyone must do what is right for their own family.
Snobbery will get you nowhere. At least they put in an honest day's work for someone that probably wouldn't know where to even start.

Costco. It does have salt in it (I personally don't like it unsalted) but other than that it is just peanuts. Delicious and reasonably priced, and since you go through a lot, the quantity would work for you.

We make our own as well. Just peanuts (usually half salted, half unsalted and sometimes some of the honey coated ones if we're feeling decadent.). I also add a bit of coconut oil for spreadability and because it tastes delicious.
