shoe train is useless

I just went to the stride rite outlet and was kinda shocked the prices were still around $40 for a pair of toddler sneakers.
Also, all the girls sneakers were pink and sparkly or had hello kitty/dora on the side. I wasnt impressed.

I found a pair of stride rites in famous footwear for $34.99, still a lot ( for me). I got DD's boys shoes because I liked them better. Just plain brown, kinda like a hiking shoe.

FWIW I have found stride rite to be the easiest to get on my toddlers foot, They seem to open up wider to get on.

I abhor Shoe Train. The waits are ridiculous, and since it has been sold, the service is really subpar. I grew up going to Shoe Train, and have taken my own children for years. But after the last few times where we waited hours for 5 minutes of service, I will never go back again. Also, could they have more besides that tiny train table to play with? And the prices are insane.

Nordstrom's or LLBean. Yes, they are more expensive, but they are the only shoes that can survive my boys. I tried buying cheaper shoes last year, and they completely fell apart within a few months. The good ones will last a year, and are outgrown at about the same time that they start looking rough.

I apologize, no more posts until the store is open and then only one...I just wanted advice on product, nothing more as the store won't be open until probably 2014. Chuck

Another vote for Nordstrom.

Stride Rite for the main shoes they wear most of the time. Payless for play shoes like ones for dirt or water.

I am cheap when it comes to clothes, but spend money for good shoes.
