We were left a plug in lawn mower and leftover paint, neither of which we wanted. They did leave manuals for everything though, which we appreciated, and sticky notes on various light switches, etc.

This.... I hated that the previous owner left us old paint cans etc... Two houses ago, the owners left us a car bumper hidden in the weeds behind the garage.

I wouldn't worry too much about manuals. If they can look up the make & model of an appliance, most manuals can be found in PDF format online.

That is annoying! I loved that our previous owners left the paint. We decided to paint some of the less "neutral" rooms a color that they used in the living room and it was so great to know what that color was and have a whole can to get started with.

Guess it just depends- the previous owners painted everything in an ugly neutral color that we are painting over. It was good that they left the trim/ceiling paint though as I made a couple mistakes and need to cover them up. We really have no use for the wall paint.

That is annoying! I loved that our previous owners left the paint. We decided to paint some of the less "neutral" rooms a color that they used in the living room and it was so great to know what that color was and have a whole can to get started with.

Yeah how do people not know this?? Moving out of our rental and landlord asked us to paint over holes with paint she had stored in the basement. Turns out the paint is completely separated, old and unusable. When we told her this, she asked us to throw it in trash. So clueless. Thankfully our county has a waste disposal website we could point to to let her know it is not that simple. One of the containers is a 5-gal bucket almost full!

Our seller also left cans of leftover paint which we missed during the walkthrough and now have to get rid of- major pain in the a$$!

You can only throw dried out paint in the trash. Otherwise you need to dispose of it with hazardous materials, or open up the top and wait for it to dry up (which takes a while in our humid climate).
