It's no different than my parents forcing me to be raised in a monogamous household. Or their raising me Catholic.

Except both those things are legal, and don't elicit "ew" reactions from a majority of our society. This is more akin to cooking meth in the family home. "We're not forcing them to cook meth with they grow up. They can go to college and make their own decisions."

"Cody--his thinning hair carefully coiffed into some sort of retro lady hairstyle"

"don't know how he gets multiple women to fuck him"

bwahahaha I almost spit water all over my keyboard

I do not really see the big deal with polygamy. NOT that I would ever want to be one but if they want to share a man and have multiple kids , etc., I dont know what the big deal is.

Now in a culture like Warren Jeff (spelling) that is horrific but the Browns dont bother me.

Alot of other people doing way worse things in the US then them.

I enjoyed the Big Love story line more. I think it has ruined the appeal of Sister Wives, because I see them as losers. I'll stick with my fictitious polygamists.

I don't think polygamy should be legal, but I think it should be decriminalized on a national level.

Definitely not my cup of tea, but as long as all adults consent, then I've no problem with polygamy/polyamory/open marriages.

yes. She hopes her son grows up to be a polygamist. How is that different from anyone hoping their child grows up to be like them?

This is how I felt when I used to watch Teen Mom. They would talk about finances being a big issue, but weren't they getting paid to be on the show???

If it works for them that's great. They all went into this as adults and they aren't forcing their teenage girls into marriage nor are they forcing them into multiple marriage. Some of the girls say they don't want to be plygs and I can't see any of the parents holding monogamy against them.
No the grownups are forcing it on the kids. Polygamy is still illegal in the U.S. Since it overwhelmingly/exclusively involves women and is almost unheard of for husbands, the concept is nothing more than an archaic form of sexist repression. When applied abroad, it's invariably linked to poverty as some wives are abandoned and left to begging and other illegal professions to survive. So if you can't handle open debate on an anonymous forum like DCUM, don't start the thread.
I didn't start this thread.
I was talking about the Browns exclusively. While the kids are raised in a polygamy I suppose you could say they are having polygamy forced upon them. It's no different than my parents forcing me to be raised in a monogamous household. Or their raising me Catholic.

The Browns made these decisions as adults and aren't forcing their daughters into polyg marriages or into marriage at all. They are allowed to go to college and make decisions on their own.

The whole thing is pathetic. Don't these women have enough self respect to survive on their own or find one man they can have an exclusive relationship with., like the rest of America?
