Even with sequestration we can't find enough good cleared developers under 150k. I am taking about all 3 aspects.

Also true consulting/advisory services won't likely get outsourced. Systems integration work, the grunt work, sure thing.

BD/sales probably will stick around here too.

The only jobs that are free of the risks of out sourcing are those that either require hands on the hardware, or require a clearance. The latter are being scaled way back because of sequestration.

FWIW, I work for a federal contractor sort of ITish (Research Scientist, but do IT as needed). I am making 150 + 10K bonus.

DH is a SVP/CIO at one of the huge govt IT firms. I just asked him and he said Project Managers with experience would come in around 125-160K, Program Managers would be around 140-180K. VPs would be around 185-225K. He said those are ballparks. Hard to find SMEs can get as much as a VP, sometimes more depending on the skill set. Hope that is useful OP.

Yes there is a lot of outsourcing to India and Phillapines in non-Fed IT work. It used to be development, but now it's all testing: integration, system, automated testing scripts, etc. Also some functional and technical designs.

However I'm in Federal IT consulting now and we outsource development and testing to low cost of living locations - think South and Southwest states.

To have a high salary in IT, you need to be selling work or managing projects and teams. I can get decent, young SAP and Oracle developers (US citizens) working remote who live in Frederick or Wilmington for cheap. For niche skills, the fees are higher, but a lot of those jobs don't exist outside DC anymore due to outsourcing the junior jobs and experienced foreign nationals being widely available. Gone are the days when a consulting company could "back up the school bus" and have a bunch of fresh analysts learn on the job.

I make 130+

I started to mommy track about 8 years ago, staying in the same flexible job, turning down promotions. I am 40+.

I have a degree in Math, was a computer programmer, server operator, help desk manager... Now I am a Project Manager.

I think there are a lot of IT jobs that are not in the city so it is really a good salary and goes a long way in the burbs. My H make about the same, can't complain but sometimes I still do.

Your responsibilities and the qualifications required.
Salaries of $120+.
Thanks

High salaries?? $120+
I guess you're not from these parts!!
If you're supporting a family, 120K might pay the rent and keep the used minivan on the road.
IT is a good middle of the road industry but your average analyst/PM/architect/manager are not making bank.[/quote
Agree.
Those on the h1b visa are paid very little, but they have to accept this and cannot change employers, so it is a big win for the companies.
My recent project outsourced half the work to freelancers in India. It was a pain as they were in a different time zone.
