People often confuse "homey" with "homely." I once visited a nursing home with a friend and we stopped to visit with a lady we didn't know. She had spruced up her room, and my friend told her, "your room is so homely!" I hated to correct her in front of others, but geez, that poor lady.

I am the one who said "gorgeous". While no she isn't model worthy, I think she is very pretty and not the typical "homely"

+1. Rumor got Bruces' chin and facial features. Sad because Demi and Bruce are pretty good looking on their own but not a good combo for their kids.

It means ugly or unattractive at best.

In England, homes are often described as homely, meaning comfortable or cosy. I always thought that was weird.

In Indian English (in India), it describes someone who is a homebody - you could be a beautiful, homely girl.

Yep....I've always understood it to be ugly...
But when I was in college, a friend of mine who was Indian--his parents were trying to arrange a marriage for his older brother. He showed me some advertisements in some Indian publication and I was surprised to see that a lot of them described young women as "homely." I asked my friend why they would advertise the fact that the girl was ugly, if they are trying to find her a husband, and he said that by "homely" they meant that she was good in the home--liked to cook, clean, take care of children, etc.
