Love this. Eleven is old enough to put the bags together. If that's too much effort, then I guess he didn't really want them.

That said, goody bags can stop whenever you want, or never start in the first place.

We found a super deal on magazine subscriptions online and got every kid a magazine for the year. It was $5 for an annual subscription ( I have a girl so we gave a choice of girl teen magazines...boys could get SI). That way they remember you every month.

I don't do favors. Less plastic junk ending up in landfills.

Don't know if I'm offending anyone, but my DD's friends' parents still seem to like us enough to hang out!

My son once got a $5 gamestop gift card as a "goody bag". I thought that was a great idea, I hate goodie bags filled with cheap plastic junk toys and candy.

You could give out one object that's used at some point in the party. I personally give custom made koozies out at my parties. The hula hoops sound like fun too.
