Hate shower games but loved the one i went to where we decorated onesies. also love scrapbooks / books where you have to write advice to the mom or write a little note to the baby. oh, and the one other semi-structured ice-breaker-type thing I've seen done that was really, really nice was to have everyone bring a baby picture of herself and them people have to guess who is who.

The one that was hosted for me had a sheet called "Wishes for Baby" (see: http://img1.etsystatic.com/000/0/5416009/il_fullxfull.253654525.jpg)

People filled out the sheet and then read aloud what they wrote. I loved that. Some other silly game was which traits Mom wanted the baby to get from her vs. Dad. That was cute.

I also went to a shower where everyone decorated onesies and that was really fun for me as a guest. And I love the journal idea.

Forget the melted chocolate and baby food tastings. That's just gross and stupid. Do things that are meaningful - that make the event a rite of passage for the new mom.

To each her own. They just had people guess by cutting a length of string, and everyone cackled when my husband got within one centimeter. It's not like they stripped me down and pulled out the measuring tape. Like I said, our friends are pretty chill.

A clothes line with cute onesies. One for each month of the first year. The mom's best friends made up a cute/funny poem about new motherhood to go with it. I thought it was cute.
