The Homeless Children's Playtime Project (http://www.playtimeproject.org/) a great organization which helps children in the D.C. homeless shelters.

You can also donate to DC's school nurse and school counselor. Even in DD's well-off school there are kids in need.

When I was a school counselor it was great to have a stockpile of clothes to give to kids (or to parents for their children). It can be done in private and can be very helpful.

I also support the DC Diaper Bank. I have young children and I don't have time to drop diapers off, but every month I order a big box of Target diapers online and have them sent to the DC Diaper Bank. Get the Target credit card and shipping is free.

Just thought some of you other super busy moms might like to hear about an easy way to help those in need...

Thank you so much, OP, for doing this! I've already made some donations and will look for more ways to help.
