Does a tampon go up high enough to break a hymen?

Just where do you think your hymen is?
If you have one and it wasn't broken early, it's way south of there the tampon goes.

I don't really know. I just want to be sure that if I get a pap smear, the person doing it won't be breaking my hymen, aka, finding out I'm a virgin, because I am at an embarrassing age to be one.

Oh, good lord.

If having a hymen is that embarrassing, order a sex toy and some lube from Amazon and break it yourself.

Your doctor is going to ask if you are sexually active, though. You should tell the truth because you don't want to have a lot of STD tests.

YES!!! Make the order. Breaking your hymen will be the last of your concerns. BELIEVE ME!

You should be seeing a doctor, regardless of hymen. Breast cancer and ovarian cancer and ovarian cysts and other problems happen regardless of whether you are a virgin or not.

Not the hymenless pp, but you can tell by looking and feeling around.

Honestly, people, there's no excuse for such ignorance these days, with the glorious Interwebz.

Anonymous wrote:"Hymen" is sort of a stupid sexist thing that people think tends to correlate with virginity, but that's just not the case. Many girls are not born with hymens. There also like 20 different kinds of hymens, and they often "break" naturally just living life and doing ordinary things.

Exactly! I was bron without one.

How would you even know this?

Your doctor will likely feel your hymen during the exam. You can't hide it. I think we thought you were trying to keep it intact.

There's nothing embarrassing about being a virgin. And your doctor doesn't give a crap. In fact you should be talking to your doctor because it's clear you don't know very much about your own anatomy and the reproductive system in general.

How old are you? If you are young enough to be so mortified of all this, then good on you for still being a virgin. I was a virgin until later, but when I finally decided I was in the right place to have sex, the issue of my virginity wasn't an issue. I just was in the right place with the right person. If you are older, maybe you need to talk to a counselor to get at your fears, especially if the reason you are still a virgin isn't because of some deeply held religious belief.

Google some pictures of a hymen. Then get a mirror, and look at your vaginal opening.

We HAVE answered your question.

"If someone's hymen isn't broken, can they still get a pap smear"

The answer is yes you can. I even GOOGLED it FOR YOU. If you want to get one, than schedule an appointment. If you don't want to get one, than don't. If you want an answer better than the ones being provided here, then either google it yourself, or.. hmm... take your medical question, and call a medical professional. Shall I google a name and number for you?
