I posted previously that your sister is out of line. I just want to add, that even if your room is a room with multiple beds and hers has one queen, she is still nuts for suggesting that you should share with her kid. Either her kids share, or one kid sleeps with them. End of story.

I was the only single sibling/cousin for a long time as the youngest, and waited the longest to get married, and they do NOT get to pull that shit. You are an adult. You get your own room before a 4 year old does.

+1. Much more eloquent than my initial thought, which is to tell your sister to suck it. And I say this as the mother of a 4 yo and 2 yo who shared a room last night, resulting in the 2 yo waking up at 5:45 point at his sister and squealing in delight, and the 4 yo staying up until 10 so thrilled to be sharing a room with her little brother she couldn't contain herself. that is total bullshit. you get your own room unless you WANT to share with your niece. my brother tried to pull this nonsense on me at our mothers beach house but he wanted to permanently take my room for his kids. i did not budge, he put in a crib and i still stayed. my sil finally relented. i am now writing this from that very room 18 years later, only now i sleep there with my husband. i am guessing you are the younger sibling, dont let them push you around

During one gigantic-family-vacation (as a much younger adult) I slept on the floor of the condo's "owner's closet". Only place to myself.

Another vote for no way should you have to share. I too do not sleep well with a companion in the room, but if it were my own kid I would suck it up. Under the circumstances you described, you should absolutely 100% have your own room. Please show this thread and responses to your sister.

I would like to get a hold of whomever tried to corner the real estate market of the Outer Banks with these GD 6 BR houses on stilts with elevators.

I don't need an elevator, any more than I need to be spending time worrying about how badly MIL wants to treat us while she dusts off the cobwebs of her bankroll to rent a house for one God forsaken week a year. For crying out loud, doesn't she know its about 140 degrees Farenheit, and I'm not keen on "vacationing" with 25 people, and a week long hurricane warning, by now?

Do me a favor, if you see one of these real estate "geniuses": Tell them the majority of the world likes renting next door to their in laws just fine. They are doing no one any favors by giving me these vacation from hell houses as an option.

So no, OP. Grown adults should under no circumstances be expected to share a room with children.

And if there is not enough room for the people you invited to join you, then it is in fact no favor at all. Zero. My vacation consists of peace, quiet, fun and friends. Not rehashing the past passive aggressions that you never addressed 40 years ago.
