How are they not IB for Wilson, Wilson's boundary goes all the way over to SWDC?
All Ross IB students are IB for FS/Wilson on current boundaries, but Ross feeds Shaw/Cardozo. So an IB student at Ross will be able to chose between FS/Wilson and Shaw/Cardozo. An OOB student at Ross will not have this choice.
Similarly IB students at FS will be able to choose Wilson (IB) and Cardozo (feeder).

Shaw ifs closed. Cardozo will be a 6-12 "campus". Are there any Ross IB families who would send kids there?
No.

Wilson's boundary does not go straight to SWDC.

The old Stevens building has been sold as I recall.

Sounds like a good idea- I'm sure that'w why DCPS wouldn't do it. They could have merged Ross and FS and split into lower and MS campuses. Then it would feed to Cardozo.

That makes perfect sense.

I realize the ship has sailed, but maybe it would have made more sense to have a larger ES, with no MS, on site at FS but including Ross boundary.

The Stevens building location could hold an MS and is closer to SWW building.

The Ross building is old and small with only 150 students. And Ross now feeds into Cardozo.

I applaud FS parents who kept the school from closing. Hopefully there will be rational use of facilities for kids in Ward 2. We loved living in Dupont, but moved for a lot of reasons.

Ross is bursting at the seams. DCPS going to have to do something. Merge, build or re-boundary. While Ross feeds Cardozo if you are in boundary for Ross you are in boundary for SWW@FS for MS. Why not gradually peel off the upper grades at Ross and feed them in to SWW@FS; free up space at Ross, fill the upper grades at SWW@FS.

They need to fill other grades. It can't be a ps3- 8 with only students in ps3, pre-k and 6th grade.

It's too bad that SWW@FS didn't manage to attract more students to higher grades. If the school is trying to raise enrollment, one place to start would be with PS3. The waitlist is quite long, and there were 14 IB children on the initial list (last I heard they were still only at #8, although it may have since gone a bit further). In addition, there are a number of OOB w/ sibling and proximity children on the waitlist, so the school would likely have few problems filling another PS3 class. Does anyone know if this might be in the works?

There are many things that would have made more sense than merging it with SWW HS. THey could have made FS a magnet MS- that would have been a great idea except the FS parents who fought to merge it are parents of very young children.
