My 9yo has never dipped below 90 percentile for height; as a third grader he is taller than many if not most of the 6th graders at his school. My nephew is at the opposite end of the spectrum; last I heard he was about 3 percentile for height, and isn't much taller than my 4yo (who is crazy tall like his brother). Fwiw, both cousins are happy, healthy, reasonably well-adjusted rising 4th graders, and I'm pretty sure my tall kid is less athletically inclined and more prone to getting teased at school than his tiny cousin.
