I kind of hate myself for watching it but I did and also hated all the praise Jesus babble. I wish I'd thought to put it on mute but I was too riveted. Anyway, for the PP who asked why would someone do this, well, my assumption is he's being paid shitloads of money. But even so, I think it's horrible and selfish for someone to do that to his poor family. Did you see the shots of his son, who was sitting with his hands in his head, shaking? I felt so bad for that kid and for the whole family. What an awful thing to put your family through, even if the payday is big. Find a real job, nick!!!

because his walking was making the rope bounce too much. He was kneeling to try and calm the rope.

In 1978, Karl Wallenda died after falling from a tight rope at age 73 in Puerto Rico. Karl was Nik's granfather but they never met.

How many posts and not one person remembers the "Flying Wallenda Family? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nik_wallenda. A very sad story. seventh generation. Almost the entire family was whiped out during a circus act involving poles and chairs with the women sitting in the chairs. Then the last living Wallenda decides to walk across a metal rope at @ age 81 on a very windy date. .05 says it's Puerto Rico. I know it wasn't here but it was awful. I'll go find it and post.

I will admit I watched it with my DH and our six year old who begged to stay up. I can't believe his grandfather died attempting a similar tightrope walk in Puerto Rico. He is the seventh generation of rope walkers. Seems crazy but if you grow upon that family perhaps it seems normal.

My sister was the head producer and has spent months and months on it. Took a lot of work which included having to negotiate with the Hopi to build a road to the site. Don't know about how much he is paid, will find out!

Wow. I have a fear of heights and could only watch from the corner of my eye. Scary! I have an adrenaline rush just watching. Tha'ts why people do these stunts.
