Tattoo parlor for sure. I've had multiple piercings done with needles and.with guns. Needles were far less painful and healed much faster.

One summer when we were visiting My Pakistani grandma, she told my father I looked "inappropriate" without earrings at age 11. She gave him money and told him to go buy me some studs at he very least. I had pierced ears, I just didn't wear earrings all that often. She gave me a good earful Of how "American" I was becoming by leaving my ears uncovered/unadorned and how disappointed she was. I remember thinking it was so interesting that she was so upset by my "naked" earlobes!

You've got to understand that, for us who are from different cultures, this view is neither here nor there. . In my culture it's trashy not to have a girl's ears pierced but I don't view girls from different cultures as trashy if they don't have pierced ears. I understand and appreciate that things are different here. My daughters had theirs done shortly after birth which is the norm for us. They look really cute with their tiny earrings.

I'm curious; which culture thinks it's trashy not to have a baby's ear pierced, and why?

We're Swedish.

DD's pediatrician did her ears. I think it cost us $20, and the earrings were included.

Ignore the self righteous. I posted the same question years ago and got similar answers.

I had my DD's done at a tattoo studio. I was really impressed with the sanitation and attention to detail there, and now would not go anywhere else.

That said, I wouldn't do it at this time of year. They advised no swimming in lakes for 6 weeks or so to avoid infection. I think they said better to avoid even pools, but if we went, to rinse with a squeeze bottle of saline afterwards. So we were very glad DD had hers done in winter vs. summer.

OP here
Thanks all. My daughter is of a different race than me. I am white. I think she definitely notices the girls from "minority" cultures have their ears pierced earlier than the white girls and i think this is one of the reasons for her enthusiasm for it.
