Here's another stunner: it's the same school district, and the same curriculum. I have had kids in schools in both sides of the county, east and west, and it's THE SAME. The difference is the color of the kids and their household income.

People can natter on about "desirability" but that's what they are really talking about.

We always have to remember that test scores are most closely aligned with household income not classroom quality.

Whatever, although given the schools in question I don't think so. While BCC is a little more diverse, Churchill isn't much different. Churchill is probably a wealthier school in fact. House prices there may just be lower because of commute to DC.

Unless OP can come back with a source for what s/he "has heard," I suggest we all just ignore and move on. Others have provided clear proof that boundary changes require a substantial process.

That is why Whitman has been able to be so low minority...aside from bussing kids in, there is socioeconomic diversity. it is not just a matter of re-drawing the boundaries as it could be for other schools. Since Op has not provided any info...I sense a troll.

MCPS cannot spring anything on anybody however much they want to - the red tape is astounding. Believe me, there will be years of acrid public discussion before boundary changes are finalized. You'll have time to move if you want to

But the boundaries will always be basically geographic and that part of Bethesda is lily-white no matter how you draw it.
