Subject: work from home/sahms how do you do it?
What crappy responses. I did this freelance work for several years when my kids were little, working mostly at night after they were in bed. A lot of very late nights. I also was in grad school when they were little and had a sitter for classtime, but did all my studying late at night. OP, you can do it for awhile, especially when you have one child who is a good napper, but it's not sustainable over the long haul. You really do need childcare in order to give your sharpest mind to your work and get most of it done in daylight hours. I know that childcare is expensive, but there comes a point when it's the only way.

Not the point at all. I'm not breaking any codes and my employer knows full well my home situation. I work before my kids wake up and after they go to bed.
Then why do the house/dinner/etc fall apart? When do you think most SAHMs do those things? Not only before kids wake and after they go to bed.
If you want to be able to do actual work, get childcare. Period.

OP, people aren't being "vile" by telling you to get a sitter. Even if you just nap or get reorganized during that time, it'll help you recharge. Getting a sitter is one way to make your life easier. That's the advice you asked for, no?

People did answer her question. They told her to hire help since she is tired and cannot manage it or she needs to quit her damn job. She is obviously NOT able to work while they are at home and function, like maybe you claim you can, so she needs to make a choice. She CANNOT work from home if she is not doing the work!

It's just really hard to spend all your non kid awake hours, working for pay.
As the kids get older, they sleep less and you will have even less down time.
