Recent studies have shown that it's pregnancy that causes saggy boobs, not breastfeeding. My mom never breastfed any of her 3 kids and had saggy, deflated boobs. Mine aren't deflated now as I'm nursing baby #2 but after it's done, they will be unless I get a boob job.

18 mos and 13 mos. No formula but breastfeeding was pretty easy for me (pumping for work was not fun but not "hard"). If I had had some of the challenges of friends (thrush, mastitis, supply issues, etc) I'm guessing I would've stopped sooner. Just do what works for you. And I had heard any cosmetic affect on breasts after having a kid is actually not from breastfeeding but from the fact that pregnancy causes your breast to get larger then they get smaller again.

Still BFing at 19 months. Went back to work at 6 months and pumped twice a day and nursed DS at lunch.

Got my period back at 15 months for the poster who asked.

I was very lucky and never had any issues, nor did I find it stressful or isolating. Sadly, I know this is not the case for everyone. Don't feel bad if you need to wean before you originally wanted to, in the grand scheme of things it is no big deal.

Doing it now. On six weeks. Don't know what's going on but after about4-5 minutes, DC will start crying and fighting the breast. Then I'll pump and give that to DC and he's fine. Anyone know what the problem is? Is he sucking me dry fast and wanting more?

Actual breastfeeding? One week. Tongue tied latch and had an older child (newly adopted) to consider. Turned to exclusive pumping and did that for 12 months, with enough frozen milk to last through 15 months. Was very happy I no longer had to drag the pump to work!

Just past age 2. Got my period back at 14 mos (after cutting back on pumping).

8.5 months -- no period yet.

Yes. I got mine around 9 months. We were supplementing what I pumped with formula right from when I went back to work. It was really hard to pump not getting very much, but I made it to about 9 months before I started winding down the pumping. I kept nursing DS mornings and evenings until he turned one.

I nursed DS throughout maternity leave with the occasional formula supplementation. DS would just eat and eat and eat...I so rarely had time to pump and got so little when I did, that if I went somewhere without DS DH would use formula if need me.

I nursed my first for 17 months. The first 2 months were hard, but it was great once we made it over that hump. My second is 13 months now and still nursing. It was much easier getting started with her.
To answer a pp, I don't remember when my period came back with DC 1, but it was after her first birthday. I'm still waiting for my period to return this time around.

goal was 6 months -- 5 months at home and 1 month pumping at work. but told my self all along that even 3 months would be a big accomplishment. ended up pumping a ton the 1st 4 months due to sleepy preemie who didn't have energy to nurse. was able to stretch it to almost 8 months by cutting back starting at 6 months but using freezer stash to supplement.

i told myself all along that if it became to stressful, i would just stop. but luckily i responded really well to the pump.

Still nursing at 9 months. I found the first six weeks were really hard fome, but now it's really easy and I have no real impetus to stop. Pumping isn't fun or anything, but I've figured out how to work it into my work schedule. I thought I would probably quit at months, but I find that I enjoy it and have no plans to stop before a year at least

I'm at 4 months with my first and plan on doing it until I try to get pregnant again in another 14 months or so. I'd consider spacing my children further apart so I can BF until 2, but I'm mid 30s. I also plan on using a lactation consultant if we run into biting problems or anything because I'd hate to wean before I need to.

If you can push through the first 2-4 weeks or so it just makes life so much easier. I recommend seeing a lactation consultant early and as often as you need. It creates a beautiful bond and it gives the baby so much more than just food.
