OP, it is super nice of you to think of this. Yes, most parents of kids with food allergies will bring their own cupcakes and many will not eat yours no matter what you do.

But kids with food allergies often feel stigmatized at parties (especially if they are in the age range of 4-6), and it might actually be something the parents would really appreciate if you could work with them to find a way for them to eat the treats.

You'd have to check with the parents, but personally I'd let my egg and peanut/nut allergic kid eat cupcakes that you bought from Sticky Fingers (which is not nut free but does at least think about allergies and tries to avoid cross-contamination). I might also let her eat cupcakes that you made from home, if we had a discussion about how you made them (ingredients and cleanliness of equipment).

Either way, I'd LOVE you for asking and thinking of the issue.

Very few kids with allergies will eat your food no matter how nut free or allergy free you make it. part of teaching them to be safe is to not trust that something homemade is nut free just because the person who made it says it is.

Check with the parents. If they aren't going to eat it anyways then just make something your child wants.

My son has egg and peanut allergies (just outgrew dairy) and I would be more comfortable bringing his own cupcake that I know is 100% safe. Coming from a food allergy parent, we are used to this and do it often. It is not an inconvenience. I always have cupcakes in the freezer so I have them for situations like this.

I will add that Cherrybrook Kitchen has awesome cake mixes that are egg, nut, and dairy free. They are delicious and we use them all of the time with Duncan Hines Creamy Home-Style Frosting Classic Chocolate (or Vanilla) icing which is also safe and delicious!

I've done wacky cake but swapped out the cocoa powder for vanilla extract. Add in some yellow food coloring if you'd like to give it a more golden hue.

OP here - Thanks for the suggestions. The wacky cake looks great, but unfortunately the b-day girl prefers a yellow cake. I will check with the parents and give them the heads up on what we are serving, in case they want to pack something else.

PP here. . .this is just like the Wacky Cake that some other posters mentioned. It's a great compromise and everyone will love it. My 4yo adores it.
