Add me to the list, where I received a check for $8.23 as well. What made me suspicious was that I never held an AX card; never filed a claim that I can remember. Looks like some of you are cashing it in for a little extra - to me it's not worth it. Why take the chance.

Exactly my point. I also got $8.23 two days back and became suspicious as I didn't use Amex in a foreign country. Anyway, thanks, I will now cash this big amount!

I haven't cashed mine. I read online that some checks bounced and they had to pay the bank fee!

I am going to cash mine since you guys have no problem with it. Thank you!

I also got one for 8.23. I am seeing a lot of people getting one for 8.23. I too am not sure if this is a scm.

My wife and I both got a check for $8.23. We plan to cash both checks and eat breakfast out.

You probably used a Visa or Mastercard in another country.

The checks are good even the ones for $8.23. They are for a ccf settlement against american express and visa.

My check was $36.96 and I don't remember signing up for anything. It will be cashed tomorrow.

I wonder if they make the checks look bogus in the hope that people won't cash them. They fooled the police anyway.

I got mine as well. $8.23. I DO remember, about 3-4 years ago, filling out some paperwork on this. As previously posted, this is legit. Note that, on the back, there is no language like "you are signing up for a years worth of _____" or anything like that. It is simply a check.

got one for 10.17. cashing it. it's real.
