This. Cooking dinner as a chore sucks the joy out of it for me. I wish I could just serve breakfast for dinner most nights.

Since 1966? God almighty. Well at least you're part of generation that actually got to see actual retirement benefits. Unlike the rest of us who will work until we die so that we can afford to keep eating out. Insane.

I love to cook, but I hate grocery shopping. I agree with the pp who said to find some online websites. I am loving skinnytaste and skinny mom. I have found some really great recipes that my family loves, and they are healthy. I also crock pot it when I know we will have a late evening.

I go through phases. Right now, it's an I hate to cook phase.

I LOVE to cook, and hate cooking dinner. I'd rather cook and elaborate meal for 20 people than whip up something quickly for the 3 of us.

Dinner. It comes every day. Not my favorite. But I try to keep the prep down to 30 minutes. And I have some idea of what is in it.

I don't like to cook either but I do cook dinner every night. I try to plan something we can eat two nights in a row. Tonight was chicken Parmesan with angel hair pasta and green beans. It is a chore to go to the grocery store/cook/clean up. I tell myself that yes it gets boring but it is one of the most important things we do- to feed our families every night. At least I am not working in the field or out hunting my food for survival. When I have read books about war and survival it always comes down to people being able to feed their families. I just remind myself when I am feeling the daily drudgery of cooking dinner how lucky I am to have my family and be able to cook for them. Just tell yourself positive things when you are cooking every night and it will give you a new perspective.

Dinner is fine. Picking things up is my LEAST favorite chore, because it requires thinking about where to put things

Just heard about something called Scratch DC - you get prepped meals delivered to your door. They range from $23-37 for meals that generously serve two (read two young kids would be adequately fed). Anyone try it? Honestly, four fresh meals for around $100 is not much more than our regular grocery/eat our bill, and no waste!

Nope, you aren't alone. We either do takeout or go to a restaurant every night.

I used to get tired of cooking because we pretty much ate the same things. Then, I decided to completely switch it up and go online to a few different websites and find totally new ideas. Now I love it again. And second the crock pot idea. On busy days, I throw a bunch of stuff in there in the AM and we have dinner ready in the PM.

I enjoy cooking if it means DH is taking care of DD. If he's working late and I have to cook dinner while taking care of DD, then I'm not pleased. I'll happily do one or the other, but both is taxing.
