Agree. My hair isn't that high maintenance but I don't worry about it in the summer. I want to be able to go to the beach every day. I have a friend, a former beauty pageant competitor, who won't leave the house without being fully made up and done. It can take 1.5 hours to get ready. It sometimes limits what she can do.

I'm not AA, but I think the short natural look is sexy, especially if you have killer cheekbones (which all my AA friends seem to have, jealousy!).

If you have long, thick hair, you need to find a stylist that can cut it right, so it dries naturally and looks OK. I get if you want the super straight look it will never fall that way, but it should look reasoable. My easiest hair was long and thick.

After I went shorter, I admit I loved the pixie hair in the summer, as it was so freaking easy, but it was not a look I pulled off well (or more specifically, I couldn't hold back my stylist from going too short pixie and only looked OK in longer pixie). But man I loved being able to jump right in the pool, and not think twice about what it would do to my hair.

I now have short to medium hair. It looks best when styled, which I realied is a big PIA in the summer (now I wash, blowdry, and don't wash again for several days)> I've just come to grips that I need to let it grow a little so I can pull it all up when needed. If your hair is long, can't you find a few updos (or whatever they are calling it now) to wear on the days it is not looking good?

Nothing wrong with it, it's when it gets in the way of spending family time that is becomes a problem

agreed. if you don't work and have the luxury of spending all summer with your kid at the pool, who cares about your hair?

I actually understand and feel for OP as my hair behaves very similarly when exposed to moist air.

OP, here's what I do when I either don't have time to do my hair properly or when the air outside is so damp that styling it becomes a waste. I shampoo, condition, put a styling product into it and wrap/scrunch it into a bun with my bangs styled as usual. This looks somewhat polished all day. By the end of the day I undo the bun and my hair gets soft waves that next day I can wear in a ponytail or a half-up half-down sort of thing. It's a compromise but it works.

This has to be a joke or you're fu$&ing nuts. As for Op, I can't believe that you all are chastising her for "stupid kid" etc. OP I get your post. I have similar hair. Braids are your friend. So are buns. Getting your hair splashed here and there probably won't totally ruin your do. If it does spend some $ on a great hat. Kids do act totally stupid at the pool. It's the chlorine

I think I posted this same post somewhere else but again...

COCONUT OIL!!

Twice a week saturate your hair with it and rinse out after 2 hrs or keep it on overnight. It's a really good conditioner for the hair and you will notice the difference immediately.
