I have always liked it but I don't see it as a good big law name or CEO name. But then the Cecily I knew in high school put little flowers on her "i" so I may be biased.

Just curious. The only Cecily I knew was pronounced like the island; but it was spelled Cecily.

Short e like elegant. You're thinking of Cicely, like Cicely Tyson, which is a different name.

+1 -- My oldest son, a newly-minted college grad, has a good friend named Cecily. She hasn't suffered from pronounciation problems as far as I know, nor has she been tagged as Cece. She's also smart, creative and beautiful with lovely manners (DS are you reading this?), though not on SNL. BTW, HA and Margaret Rey, the authors/illustrators of Curious George, also wrote a book (books?) about a giraffe named Cecily.

It's pretty. Makes me think of the LM Montgomery Story Girl books, there was a character named Cecily who was very sweet and quiet. I think people will know how to pronounce it, or quickly learn if they don't know already. Just don't nickname her Sissy, please -- a friend's sister had this nickname when I was growing up. Ugh.

Yes, although this will definitely not be a connotation forever, the only person I think of with this name is the SNL cast member. She's gorgeous and smart though, so, not a BAD connotation!
