Sounds like the original owners either lied or were confused about the brand.
You definitely got Stanley, but I don't think that's a bad deal. You only overpaid if the quality isn't up to par; it doesn't matter which brand.


I could see myself doing something like this- our kids' rooms both have a mix of PB and Stanley and I could see getting confused years later which pieces were which brand. The Stanley is better quality and cost more originally, so you probably got a better deal!

Our PB furniture has been particle board crap. Our Stanley YA is still holding up well. No question which is better quality.

Caveat though- kids room furniture is not something you keep forever. We bought YA bunk beds for DS four years ago and I could see him outgrown them in another two years or so. We probably would have been better off with Ikea so I didn't feel bad about replacing his furniture so soon. If you're going to buy expensive furniture, make sure it will transition from small kid through the pre-teen years.
