This is fine if it is BPA free plastic. We hand grind beans with a Lido grinder and use and Aeropress with a reusable metal filter we got on Kickstarter. During the week, on DH makes coffee and he uses pre-ground Lavazza stored in a vacuum canister. We'd prefer to use pre-ground Illy, but its just too expensive. For whole beans we like Black Cat from Chinatown Coffee company -it's by the Chinatown metro.

I never drank a single cup of coffee before our first kid was born. For the first five months after she was born we used a French press and a cheap drip coffee machine. Then we got the capresso and life hasn't been the same since. Love it. And no, the grinder doesn't wake up anyone in the house (surprisingly).

And fwiw, we still use our French press too. Just grind the beans in the Capresso on the coarsest setting.

Friends have the Technivorm. However, they feel that their Chemex is still the best.

We've had the bonavita thermal carafe for a while now and it's very good (although it takes a coarser grind than the zojirushi that we used to have, which is also a nice, reasonably priced thermal carafe coffee maker).

If you rinse the thermal carafe in hot water prior to use, it will keep the coffee hotter longer.
