This is (mostly) untrue. The school is not bare bones, it is furnished with desks and blinds and such; Any technology that was there is used in the new building, so it is not like they are starting from scratch and need all new smart boards and computers. Yes, courtyards may be empty, but a bench and some plants aren't a huge financial hardship that require tens of thousands be raised in a short time. I've lived through two school renovations.

Agreed. The FARMS rate at Lemon Road is about 10X higher than at Haycock so they may need it more.

Longfellwo's renovation did not provide for any landscaping or smart boards.

Agreed. They won't have a playground field for 3 years, however due to the renovation. Pretty sure all kids can run regardless of participating.

Not sure about that. We are at Canterbury Woods, going through a renovation. We need to raise funds for playground equipment but not for desks, Smartboards, blinds, etc.

Franklin Sherman parent here. We went under a renovation and provided a significant amount of money to aid the school. Not sure what they get and don't get though.

Where are you getting your information? You're making it sound like the school would be an empty shell without the PTA stepping in. Schools that undergo a renovation get a hefty budget to buy furniture, blinds, technology, etc. I work in one of the poorest schools in the county and was renovated 2 years ago. Our PTA is small and unable to raise more than a few thousand dollars in a year. But every classroom has a SmartBoard, document camera and very expensive furniture. The student desks are over $100 each. The office suite is gorgeous. And yes, we have blinds in every room. I can assure you that the parents did not raise the funds for this.

We have a small courtyard and parents bought a bench and table with umbrella.

I concur. I actually spoke to Dr. Sheers directly about this at her last coffee (Franklin Sherman did this last year and I had similar concerns). She said she'd be happy if people wrote checks directly to the school - more money for technology. I'm not sure if she can publicly say that or not, but maybe the PTA can say it for her? She said the school just needs help, significantly

The rest comes from where????? The family around the country our kids will be asked to shake down so Boosterthon can make a profit?
