Cunningham park is an excellent school that is going through remodeling right row. The problem with the school is one area that feeds into it (Vienna Park Apartments) is demographically challenged. The school does what it can. But, if 20% of the families just don't care, 20% of the kids will have issues.

Cunningham Park has a high percentage of advanced DRA scores. It can't be that bad of a school.

Consider the greater Vienna area (not in town) in the Oakton ES/Thoreau/Madison pyramid. We love it.

PP: The side roads in northwest vienna fairly have sidewalks. The town is trying to improve it.

Vienna is a nice town. Personally, I might be inclined to live in the Vienna Elementary area, if I were to do it again. We live in an old house in the Louise Archer District. We like the town, but I am not happy with the school. I think the school is resting on its reputation.

A drawback to Louise Archer for many parents is that there's no SACC. Also, the roads around that school tend to not have any sidewalks.

OP, don't know if you are wed to Vienna. I can tell you about our school Shrevewood Elementary in Falls Church. We will have a local level IV next school year. This is new to our school, but I can tell you from the work of the PTA and the Principal this is going to be a great program at our school.

Many of the Vienna schools though have full or close to full classes of Level IV children. They have less AAP students as a whole though, so your child would be in the majority if they weren't in the level IV program.

So the answer is to find a school that has a local level four.

I wondered that .. I know some parents at Louise Archer are pretty aggressive about ensuring their kid gets into the AAP class as opposed to staying in the general ed.

My take is that the kids and parents may feel a little left out, but enjoy the perks of the school with better extracurriculars and sometimes better teachers and curriculum even in general ed. It probably depends on the parents each year too. They probably also enjoy having their children at the same school if one's in AAP and another one isn't.

Being in boundary for a center schools is great for kids who end up in AAP, but what if you are in a center school and your child is not found eligible. Louise Archer has 4 AAP classrooms and only 2 general ed. How is that imbalance possibly a healthy school environment? I'd love to hear from families whose kids are not in the center but are in boundary.
