I also have thin fine hair and I have to wash it every day. Even by the end of the day it is very oily and limp. I think for us there is no real way around it. You could try a color protect shampoo or something like john frieda blonde.

My hair is fine but I have a lot of it. I can wash it every other day now that I'm 50, however that was out of the question in my 20's and early 30's. I often wear my hair pulled back the second day. If I wear it up after shampooing it (which I'll often do in the summer rather than blow dry) I just rewet it the next morning.

every other day, sometimes every third day.

My hair is like yours and I have successfully adjusted to every other day. Takes a week or two, and not so fun to live through, but it works. Now my hair is super healthy.

Once a week! If that....

Every day. My hair is greasy otherwise. I have fine hair but my scalp is oily. Plus I exercise a few times a week and I have to wash my hair if it's sweaty.

Every two or three days.

My hair is like yours. I workout daily and sweat a lot when I do, so I really can't just use dry shampoo or whatever on the second day. But I have found that if I just use conditioner on that second day, my hair seems as clean as if I'd used shampoo.

Switch shampoo and get back to us.

I bet that if you give a good thorough wash with a new shampoo and light conditioner (anything really, Pantene, Herbal Essences, just something different than what you use now) your hair still stay cleaner an extra day. It's the build-up from using the same stuff over and over.

OP, I have hair like you and I have to wash every day, especially if I exercise. I don't care if it's not great for my highlights, I can't stand the oily feeling if I don't wash every day.

Daily.

I work out/sweat daily so it gets washed daily.

My kids get daily showers/bath too.

Dirty hair has a distinctive, nasty smell. I could smell this woman's unwashed hair in the store today and wanted to throw up.

Lots of fine, oily hair. I pretty much wash it everyday. If I'm just running around on the weekend, I'll try and clip it up the night before (seems to keep the oil more on the scalp then spreading all over my hair) and then do a low pony tail the next day.

I have very similar hair to the OP. After people always saying that your hair will adjust to washing less, you just need to give it a few days/weeks, I tried cutting back from daily washing to every other day. I gave it six months. Result: oily, itchy scalp, and dandruff. I think some people (esp. those of us with fine hair and oily scalp) just need to shampoo more often.

That said, it's better for your hair, if not your scalp, to wash less often. Things you can do: Shampoo/condition every other day, and just get your hair west and kind of scrub your scalp with your fingers on the alternate days. Skip one day of washing a week if you can (I do it on the weekends). When you wash your hair, first apply conditioner to the length of your hair from the ears down. Leave it on while you shampoo (focus shampoo on your scalp, not the length of your hair.) Rinse it all out, then condition the length of your hair again. This lets the conditioner protect your hair from being too stripped by the shampoo.

Also helpful to avoid blow drying if you can to prevent more damage to your hair. I shower at night and go to bed with my hair damp. It's dry and looks fine in the morning.

I also have very fine, blond hair. It's disgusting, oily and smelly if I don't wash it everyday.
