In HR. Leave it off. If you graduated with honors, put that on.

You sound like you graduated in the bottom of the class.

I work at a T14 law school. I wouldn't advise putting the GPA on a new graduate's resume unless it places him or her in the top third, which at our school would be around a 3.6.

What kind of job is she looking for?

Not true. During second year recruiting we were to.d that if is is over a 3.0, put it on. That was georgetown, about a decade ago, several years before they upped the curve and the median grade was a 3.0, so over 3.0 meant you were top half.

We were told the same thing. Put your class rank or GPA on your resume if it's top 1/3 of class or better.

What in the fuck are you talking about? GPA is not tacky. This isn't listing your personal wealth it's listing an indicator of your academic performance. Sure people can lie about GPA but they can lie about anything...

i would leave it off if it was cum laude. magna and summa cum laude I'd add it.
changes are high she will be asked what her GPAs and even standardized test scores (SAT, LSAT) are, if she is fresh out of ugrad and law school.

Agree on the cum laude, etc. That should go on without the GPA. They will probably ask for a transcript which has GPA but nobody ever asks for SAT or LSAT scores and if the did I wouldn't want to work there...so weird.

Some places do ask for LSAT scores now. It is utter BS. But it's an employers market, so...

So was this person a summer associate last year and go no-offered or what?

Ok, so if you are applying for a full time legal position and all you have on your resume is internships etc. from law school, you do NOT have to have your gpa?

This is news to me! I even had career services check my updated resume to make sure it is whatever the standard is! Arghhh...

This is not really a helpful comment. Everyone currently awake knows that that the market is bad. And entry level would be shorthand for "willing to train a new lawyer."

Every law student has two internships and clinical experience under their belt....pretty standard. Try to tailor the resume to the legal field. As an example: an internship with a solo or firm won't have any appeal to the hiring attorney at Legal Sevicex or a nonprofit.

Late 20s, she has a couple years prior work experience before law school. Did two internships and extensive clinic work through the school. Graduating this year and sitting for the bar this summer.

The job market was very different ten years ago. Late 20s? Does she have prior work experience as well as extensive internships/externships during law school? Sitting for the bar this summer? And did she just graduate last week, or last year? Big difference.
