FHES got 3 out of 5 in GreateSchool reviews, but WolfTrap got 5 out 5. Although the two school have close test scores. There are valid reasons. I learned my lesson.

Not correct

The great school rating is 9 of 10 for Flint Hill. The community rating is 3 0f 5 which looks like its based on a relatively small sample of self identified raters, 21 over a number of years. Since 2010 it appears there have been 6 such ratings? Not very robust.

Wolftrap is 10 of 10 and has 4 of 5Community rating, also based on limited raters.
Btw, not a booster and my DC is ignoring to Louise Archer Aap.

Personally, I like the principal very well. I find him to be friendly and approachable by the students. My 2nd grader spontaneously told me that he likes the principal because he's nice, knows my kid's name and says hello to him in the halls. The principal always has a smile and comes to the events and is personable with the families. That being said, I haven't had a problem or issue that has required that sort of interaction with the principal, so I can't speak to that.

My experience with the teaching staff has been mixed. This year my kid has some great teachers, but in 1st Grade he was discouraged with school, and I think this was partially about the teaching style and lack of structure and control in the classroom.

I find the front office staff friendly and the PTA is really fantastic. There are lots of options for after school programs and I love GRACE Art. Check out the PTA website for specifics.

I like the school. Good luck!

I think Flint Hill is a good school. My DD has thrived there and has loved her teachers. It also ranks well in terms of objective criteria, including testing results.

Too much info already? Pretty mild -- a poster thinks the principal is a dud?

I know one should not feed trolls, but here goes:

No one said they loved FHES any more or less than any other ES, certainly not I. What is sought is some clarification/ information to such (troll-like) bloviations as:

"I would pass on this school. It is not an academically challenging school and the admin is not admirable.... others decry the super easiness of the classwork".

Without any specific information or basis on how it is not academically challenging or super easy it's just typical anonymous petard, which I decry.

If your're going to cast aspersions, back them up, otherwise you are a troll.

I would say that this poster is typical of the Flint Hill booster. "cast aspersions" instead of criticise. Love "my" school or you are a troll.

Didn't see this earlier. Another typical troll device-- conflate the issues. Where did the original state anything about "love" the school? or even imply it? I want to know why someone thinks "dud" some information, nothing more. I'm not protecting or boosting anyone or the school. I wouldn't want anyone calling you a dud either without backing it up.
