Our HHI is good but we hate paying for cable and phones.

This is a terrible idea. Your income isn't high enough to be able to afford a $900/month apartment...and likely wouldn't qualify if there is an income requirement to qualify for the lease. Your personal expenses will also increase b/c you will be covering more of your personal expenses once you are no longer living with your family (despite you thinking things will remain the same).
I'm also a nanny, and my gross monthly wages are more than double yours. I wouldn't take on $900/month in rent. I also like PP's point about having an emergency fund due to the unstable nature of nanny jobs. Currently I have 6 months worth of living expenses saved up for emergencies (in addition to other savings that I could tap into if need be).
If you're hell-bent on moving out of your family's house then you need to look at renting a room from someone or finding a roommate and looking for a really reasonably priced place. A good rule of thumb is that your rent and utilities shouldn't be more than 1/3 of your monthly income. That means that you need to stay under $500/month for rent and utilities combined if the income you quoted is your gross income.
And seriously, how is your cell phone bill $180/month? If you're planning to get your own place you need to take a look at switching your plan/service to something less expensive. Living on your own requires adjustments to your budget.
