pay the extra to the student loan, not the car loan. Student loans are not dischargeable in bankruptcy.

Since you have a two year plan, why not pay off those loans with the aim of having savings by end of year two. How much interest are you paying each month. Just think, that interest would go straight into savings once you pay those off. Austin is cool but family is everything. You said free child care. Child car without family costs over 1000 per month. You're smart to be thinking ahead. Have fun with your baby!

There is NO SUCH THING as an "FHA no PMI loan." All FHA loans, even if you put 20 percent down, require both an upfront PMI and a monthly PMI.

Good luck.

Totally thinking about Austin. All my fam is here so it is hard to leave your hometown. I am waiting on my grandmother (92) to pass away before I move out of the area.

Two years in my box of an apartment seems like a tight squeeze...especially with the big water bugs...I am over the swamp...but the 2nd year my rent will go to $1000...so two more years at my job, debt free and $60K in savings. That is just going to have to be the plan. Then I can figure it all out. I am a single lady so two years of not doing much of anything except hanging with the baby... I am certain to save even more!
