That would be a dealbreaker.

I wouldn't have married him. Actually, wouldn't have gotten past the first date.

You discuss whether or not you like vacations on a first date?

1.5%. Single parent. Love a week at the beach but one week, pre-season, is all I can afford. But its a great vacation!

Yeah, sounds like a cheap bastard.

Not cheap, lazy. Doesn't like to get out of his comfort zone. Has IBS, so needs constant access to a bathroom and has a hard time with schedule disruptions and time zone changes.

It's not, because I can go without him with the kids or girlfriends. Nothing worse than dragging a guy to cooking school in Italy or wine country bicycling in the Loire if he'd rather be home in his barcalounger with his beer. That man was made for the "staycation" concept.

Keep in mind that not everyone is the same, not even all women are the same.

But she said "my husband doesn't like" not "I don't like"

As a kid, we never traveled and that sucked.

I spend a big chunk of our $$ on vacation. As an adult, when I get together with my parents all of our conversation are "remember when we went to"

Agreed, the BEST memories come from our vacations. I appreciate so much what my parents did to take us all over the world and make for amazing vacations. I now do the same for my child. Education doesn't always come from school. I wish more people realized that.

2% probably. Although we have a good HHI, I grew up poor and "vacations" were always trips in the car to see family. I travel enough for work and truly, truly dislike traveling, even to places I want to go see. When I take time off, I like to stay home.

6% of pre-tax is the goal.

About 1.5%. But our income has gone up significantly in the past few years and we've maintained our cheap vacation ways. Last year's big splurge was a week on the c and o trail. We're planning a bigger trip in a few years to Iceland, but I don't think we'll have to go over 2% to do that.

Nothing... Spend it all on private school.

About 3%

5% this year. We're only doing one vacation and one trip to see his family (I don't count that as vacation though...but since it's travel, I'll include it for this purpose.)

Usually we go 2 vacations and 1 trip to his family for around 8% of pre-tax income, but as I'm affected by the furloughs we cut back this year.
