When my kids played at a house with a trampoline, I thought it was extremely irresponsible that the parents hadn't informed us. Sometimes it would be a birthday party. We didn't expect to know all the activities but a trampoline needs mentioning. If parents want to take the risk with their own kids that's one thing.

Lol! I was just thinking that. Just need some brown bunnies and pinwheels.

I wanted to get one for our kids this summer, but my son went to his friend's house and blew out his knee the first time he used it.

I think an in-ground would be safer. Better landing to the ground instead of falling 3 or 4 to the ground. Nets aren't perfect--our neighbor's kid went sailing through theirs and ended up with a neck injury.

This seems even more dangerous to me - jumping up off the tramp and then landing right on hard ground..

I agree. It's the net that makes the trampoline safer. I think people only do the in-ground thing for aesthetic reasons.

Yes. We were getting re-quoted and an agent came by and saw it and told us that we had to get rid of it or they wouldn't insure us anymore. We were told that someone would be coming by anytime in the next week to "check". We ended up just selling it on craigslist to not have to deal with the hassle.

It does end well! Life is fun, remember? Remember being a kid, having fun? Protecting a kid from a bumped head or a sprained ankle by sucking the joy out of life isn't a trade-off we are interested in making. I have three joyful, kind, occasionally bruised kids to show for it.

They are great but have a net around it. It's insane to let kids use one without a net .
