I say pop. As does my husband. No problems getting jobs.

Sorry - should have clarified for the midwesterners - IT'S A JOKE.

I had no problem getting a job in DC when we moved here from Chicago.

Anonymous wrote:I'm the one who previously posted we might be moving to Kansas fm Falls Church. Relatives have "talked to people" (I take that with a grain of salt) and say that once we go there, it'll be really hard to come back east to DC or New York or even Philly or Boston because people on the east coast have a bias against hiring people from the Midwest. (They say people have a perception that once you live in the Midwest you can't keep up with the pace of the east coast.) Any thoughts on this? I've been government/non-profit, and husband is in PR/communications. Thanks.

??!!What??!! If anything, the Northeast (DC and New York, particularly) are the loosest and most flexible with regard to hiring people from everywhere in the country with absolutely NO ties to either city because lots of young people come from colleges all over the country seeking to get jobs in DC and New York. The only places I've ever seen or encountered geographic "hiring bias" is in smaller cities/ legal markets around the country where everyone has a tie to that city and/or to the local college or law school. This should not even be a consideration for you. It's just silly.
