Born and raised here and I have no problem with it...but, my mother was German (I'm seeing a theme here). Pecks on the lips are not sexual at all to me.

The only person I kiss on the lips is my husband.
I don't freak out if other people kiss on the lips in a nonsexual way. I'm just not used to it. In my family, we're more into hugging than kissing.

Born and raised here. I respect that it may be cultural, but it personally creeps me out especially when someone kisses a baby or pre-teen or teen on the lips.

With our family we do give a kiss on the cheek with extended family we haven't seen in a while. I always ended up with the lipstick marks from grandma or aunt so and so. That is fine to me. I also don't mind the European kiss kiss at all.

I am american born and raised, and we kiss family on the lips. It's not done in your family, but you can't speak for the whole country.

I'm not speaking for the whole country. I said "generally."

Rock on with your lip kissing family.

I am of Italian and Irish heritage although the family has been here for many generations in the NY area. My family kisses on the lips - just a peck. My parents often kissed me on the lips and still do. And my kids kiss me on the lips. My 5 year old boy always tells me and his Dad where he wants a kiss, on the cheek or lips. He says he like the lip kisses best except when someone has a cold and he doesn't want to share germs. I think it's adorable and innocent. Certainly not sexual in any way. I don't see why so many people are so bothered by it or why they would want to unnecessarily sexualize someone's parent/child relationship.

I never got why so many people freaked out about that....

Because there is giving your brother a kiss on the lips and there is giving your brother a kiss on the lips.

I kiss my parents, an uncle, my kids and one male friend (totally platonic) on the lips.

I don't like this, and do not have this tradition in my family.
