So it wasn't a bugging after all. They were at the grand opening of the campaign office and they overheard it and taped it. Sounds like an open mic gaffe.
From the hallway. Yep, no malicious intent there.
Conway told Fox News they recorded the meeting from the hallway, and later told him about it.
"I don't know why they were at the grand opening of his campaign office. ... They overheard the conversation going on," he said. "To me it was an extremely tacky conversation ... but it was a private conversation nonetheless."

Mitch McConnell staffers really went there about mental illness. That was depraved.
That wasn't Mother Jones. I realize Rs like to shoot the messenger, but come on.
I have my money on disgruntled McConnell staffer or someone else with access. I doubt anyone bugged the room. If they didn't they wouldn't be so stupid as to leak it. And I'm pretty sure Corn vetted that.
The bigger point is the utter depravity of the McConnell camp in its way of thinking.
Thought the comment about the newspaper is arrogant beyond the pale as well.
"She’s clearly, this sounds extreme, but she is emotionally unbalanced. I mean it’s been documented. Jesse can go in chapter and verse from her autobiography about, you know, she’s suffered some suicidal tendencies. She was hospitalized for 42 days when she had a mental breakdown in the ’90s."
Are you willing to admit that the person qouted here couched his statement and admitted it was an extreme position to take? Hate MM all you want, but is it out of bounds to discuss someone's fitness for office? I think it's fair to say that a campaign that won would not be able to do so by attackiing an opponents mental fitness...lord knows Norm Coleman may have had the best shot...(look it up people).
This is why strategy meetings take place, to filter out the bad ideas....which is apparently what might have been taking place.

I typed in Mitch McConnell in my search engine and Mitch McConnell gay popped up as well as other unkind search keywords.
His wife was the first Chinese-American Secretary of Labor under the Bush Administration. Elaine Chao is a naturalized citizen who was born in Taiwan. Those scumbags had the audacity to question Mitch McConnell's patriotism because he married a Chinese-American and you have the audacity, the audacity, to try to pin the release of Ashley Judd's own admission on him. You are twisted. You will lose because people will see through this thinly-veiled Machiavellian attempt.
Get your shit together.

She chose to consider running for politcal office. Her mental health history is fair game when she choose to consider running for political office. Mother Jones contributed by publishing possibly illegally obtained information. The truth will come out.
OP, I am sorry your bonfire was ruined by vanity.
How do you figure?
