I have to agree. It's very dated looking on the outside. I would not even bother going in. Plus, although the split foyer is bigger than many I've seen, the railings are a hazard with children (ever try to pry your child's head from between the rails?).

Mid-Century Modern.
Modern building codes specify that railings have to be very close together, almost like crib slats, so a kid can't get his or her head in there in the first place. We had a house like this where the rails were so far apart, our toddler could have walked her whole body right through. We bought some childproofing mesh to cover it tightly; there's transparent plastic, too.

Subject: What do you think of this house?
That is funny that housing inventories in this area are so low that this anonymous group of people end up looking at the same houses multiple times.
What does the term "MCM" mean?
To the PP mentioning getting a child's head removed from between rails, wouldn't this be a case for any railings, regardless of material or house design (split foyer, colonial, etc)?
