Would you also do thank you notes afterwards? I almost think I would pay for that. I can't ever seem to get them done. Please don't hate me but my children's birthdays are during my busiest time at work. And it's cold/flu season too.

But birthday parties for us are easily thrown together and usually held at a public playground. We don't spend a lot on birthday parties.

People do spend money on odd things when they have a lot of it. If you were to market it the right way to the right audience, you may get business. But I wouldn't say its a guarantee.

In addition OP, start off by planning a party for friends and family and they can help refer others to you.

I just started a business like this and you would be surprised how many people will pay for this service. I felt the same way you did at first, but I still managed to start it anyway and I already have two birthday parties and a wedding to plan. Good luck with your business!

I would pay someone (if I could/can afford of course) to help me put together what I envision. I am not really crafty and if I am in a hurry, I don't really have the time to mine the internet, easy, pinterest, etc.

There IS a market for this because I do know someone who does that for a living. Not only birthday parties, but other events as well. Her clients are mainly working mothers.

I had a party planner for my kid's 1st birthday. It was a huge hit!

I would pay something for this but not a lot....maybe a few $100. this would have to include getting the invitations out, set-up, running the party (to an extent) and clean-up.

OP, I would pay someone to do this for me since my schedule is so crazy. But, I probably wouldn't pay a lot and would expect to have it all done for me - start to finish. I think I would pay about $250 plus supplies. Again, I would have very high expectations though....

No. It's not that hard baking some Duncan Hines cupcakes, getting pizza delivered, and ordering decorations/favors/games online. Send an Evite to the parents or drop notes in the cubbies at school. Done.

I don't know if I would pay for the planning (I love to plan) BUT I would pay for unique invitations, favors and party decor.

I am sick to death of the typical party places and anything that makes them more interesting or different would be great for me. I also hate cheapo party favors but would love things that everyone hasn't seen before.

Just keep in mind that there are SO many party planners in the area. If you decide to do it you'll need an angle to distinguish your business from the others.

Think about what will make your business different. Why would I hire you over the others? Do you design your own inviations? Do you have great connections that will allow parents to get discounted prices? One thing I haven't heard of is an emergency party planner (party 911 or something like that)- for procrastinating parents or those who feel overwhelmed by the last minute or "day of" things.

I know a mom who wants a big party for her daughter but hasn't started planning for the mid-April birthday. I doubt she'll find what her daughter wants at this point.

But if you have connections with party places in the area and can find out (on a regular basis) who has party slots they need to fill- that would be a good service. I would rather make one call (to you) than spend hours calling all around to find a place with availability. That I would pay for.

not for planning since I like doing that but I love the party assistant idea mentioned earlier and if it was $100 for a couple hours to not have to stress and run around the whole time, that would be well worth it.

I'd take the negative PPs with a grain of salt.

I'm going to say I would pay a reasonable amount for this service -- perhaps $100-$200 to tell me what to get, instructions, etc. especially if someone knew my taste. I love cute but it takes time and it's time I'd rather spend with my son than looking at catalogs online when I am home. If you do do this post again and I may ask for your email!
