If you have the right texture hair and a great stylist, the Rachel can be very versatile: blow it out for a professional, together look, or let it dry naturally for a wavy look. I think the key is you have to keep them from razoring in layers - the razored bits have to be blowdried or they look ragged, and they grow out horribly.
But I know exactly what you feel - I was totally appalled when I realized I got Racheled! Turned out ok in the end.
