Merit increases have been 2% in my company for 4 of the past 5 years (one year there weren't any merit increases). It's a large company (8000+). A couple of years ago I negotiated a 10% raise, but I just hit $75,000 this year. I'm an office manager.

I work in a non-profit and when our raises are 2% (determined by our board of directors) we always have a "floor" of $1,200. So our admins and other lower paid positions get $1,200 rather than 2%. I think it's a nice way to go.
