I think it's normal to feel guilty about this, because it's not ideal for a child that age. That being said, it sounds like given your choices, you weighed the pros and cons and made the best decision for you, your husband and your child. That's all really any of us can do at the end of the day. I remember being a child who was 2, 3 and 4 in preschool, and being in "after care" and longing to be be home with my mom. I didn't understand why most kids got to go home before me. I think school/daycare can be fun for little ones, but I think they need downtime, snuggles, naps, etc just like the rest of us.

OP if he's in high quality care with loving teachers, he's doing great! Please don't feel guilty. I will say my son ended up having behavioral problems at day care around age 4, partially due to a long day (9 hours for him). Partially due to a bad teacher. So keep an eye out down the road. But my little extroverted guy thrived in daycare with tons of playmates, for years. Run properly, a good daycare or aftercare program is like their neighborhood. They hang out and play with friends. A good daycare will also allow more introverted kids to have time to themselves coloring, reading, etc. Quality is paramount, so just keep an eye on that. Best wishes.
