I was very pleased with our DC's screening file. GBRS - 16 with a lot of very detailed commentary. And, the samples/back up documentation were excellent as well.

Fingers crossed that he makes it in!

FWIW, the AART at DC's school was seemingly giving me the run around and after a little back and forth, said I could come in and review the file. In our meeting, she apologized for the confusion and said that in her time there (3 years), I was the first parent to ask to see the file. She was not clear on the policy and actually went back to check with the County to clarify what the policy was.

mind said that too! i don't understand all the inconsistency between schools? what are you going to do?

mind share which schools?

Not the PP, but I know that the AART at Shrevewood has this policy.

Also not the PP, but I also got this answer at Vienna El.

Interesting how "thrilled" parents seem to be if the score is high. I'm sure no one would argue with the school if 13+

Really happy with the thoughtful and comprehensive write-up the school did. GBRS 14

I have no credible authority for this, but I've heard that the AAP office repeatedly tells the AARTs that parents can have a copy of the file as soon as it goes to central office. If an AART is doing something different, you need to call Carol Horn's office and tell them which AART is setting an individual policy - 571-423-4740.

OP here. I checked the exact words on the website. It is " A copy of the screening file is kept at the local school to be shared with parents or guardians upon request after it has been completed. " Although this sentense is under Submitting Screening Files section, it is obvious the AART is going to define complete as a eligibility decision. So I think I'm going to wait until end of April.
I didn't want to argue with AART.

What about you? Do you have a solution?

I would call the AAP central office and ask them what their interpretation is - 571-423-4740. Even if you decide not to push it with the AART, you'd know what the correct policy is. It seems unfair that it's being applied inconsistently across all schools.

She is a real piece of work. Not a helpful AART at all.

Mosby woods AART gave me the aap screening file when I asked. The schools don't have a policy, FCPS has the policy. It should be the same at every school.

An AART that not only checks but responds to email messages on a Sunday! VERY nice!
