Subject: What's the funniest/most inappropriate reaction you've gotten to your pregnancy
A year after the baby was born, ladies at work in the elevator asked me when I was due. I have 15 pounds left of stomach pouch. So I said a year ago and got laughed at. : /

It's great to know I'm not the only one with nutty family/friends. After 2 years of trying and multiple IVF's, my grandma's response was "oh, okay, pass the garlic bread." They should put that in a Hallmark.

That's exactly what I say. and I get it ALL THE TIME, maybe because this is our third and we're not particularly religious or anything. I told one woman, "well, as planned as two years of trying and two rounds of IVF can be!" she looked shocked.

We have three and are about to start trying for #4. I know for sure that we will get numerous comments from family and friends about "having another one." I think people in this area are surprised when parents have more than 2 kids.

"Oh so your FINALLY adopting" from my MIL. I was 10 weeks pregnant (not adopting) and so hopeful she'd be happy for us after numerous losses. She never appologized.

I got this and we were married, in our 30s, with two stable jobs, and a house. What would we have had to do to convince the questioner that it was probably planned?

My best friend upon me telling her the news and my due date gave me the following gems...
"wow this is really inconvenient" because her son is graduating HS around the same time (teen mom) and I was supposed to be around to help conduct college tours and plan the graduation party etc.
And my favorite "you know I don't like kids." yeah cause my husband and I discussed that when we were deciding to have a child. Sigh

When I was pregnant with my first my mom said "Oh no! that's too bad. Now you won't be able to go skiing with me this winter."
FIL was REALLY upset that he was going to be a grandpa. It made him feel "too old." He's in his late sixties!

I got these gems:
"Well. Is this what you wanted?"
"I thought you said you wanted to wait."
"It's going to be a lot more work. And money."
"I just wish you could have lost more weight first."
All from my MOTHER. Thanks, Mom. Our first child will be 2.5 when this one is born, so hardly rushing it. I had once mused to her that DH and I figured 3 years would good spacing. And it seems that if you aren't actively "trying" to get pregnant it either a)cannot happen or b)is an accident or otherwise undesirable. No, we were not "trying" to get pregnant again at this point, but we got surprised, and we're over the moon for this unexpected bonus. A little over a year ago, I was in an accident and the recovery significant impacted my mobility, thus I put on some weight. Within the past few months, I have been back into a vigorous exercise routine, but still have some to lose. My mom did not want me to overlook this very important fact that I'm still a fatty, and about to get fatter.
I just wanted to say "Oops, Mom, I think what you meant was 'Congratulations!'"

From my father: "You'll have to stop working now I guess. Daycare for 2 will be much too expensive." Yeah, umm, I make 6 figures, and while daycare is expensive, we'd be far more broke with me staying home.

We found out this baby is a girl, and we have a DS at home. I've had at least 4 people say, "Oh good a girl! Now you can be done." I didn't know they revoked your reproductive privileges after you had one of each... must be a new rule after my mom had girl, boy, girl.
