Seriously, there is nothing that this woman can do right in your eyes and so it's really not worth having a discussion about this - instead I'll point out the obvious thing that gets your panties in a twist every time you see her and her family. The vast majority of Americans love her, think she's a great role model, and are very proud to have her as our First Lady. Further, even many people who don't agree with President Obama politically still like him as a person. This makes you so mad you want to scream. Nancy Reagan
Roslyn Carter


The only one who even attempted to do anything remotely fashion-forward was Nancy Reagan. She was sixty when she came to the White House and her principal contributions were (1) her preference for the color red, and (2) wearing designers including Oscar de la Renta, who designed her inaugural gown. A gown which - irony alert - dared to bare one shoulder.

But the reality is that Michelle is just more interesting to the American people than either Laura or Barbara Bush ever were.

This and also the fact that African Americans have very few role models to look up to and when a magazine like Vogue puts us on the cover, it speaks volumes not only for our communities and the impact it will have on our children, but on the world and seeming acceptance and tolerance of people of color.
