I purchased a house from someone who was using a Redfin relator who was terrible. The result was that our first closing date had to be moved and my Agent (who was working as a buyer's agent) did much of the work to get everything pulled together. The next time I buy I will steer away from Redfin sellers.
When I sold my house, I was grateful for my Agent. I had not idea what needed to be done to stage the house, the strategy for pricing the house, and a bunch of other things. Plus I was glad I didn't have to deal with all that stuff and all of the paperwork.
For me, it was worth the commission. For others, they have the time to spend on the project. Everything is negotiable.
